summit ’09

our annual summit brings together members of the

personal philanthropy network to incubate private-

sector solutions to the greatest challenge of our time - global poverty.  Instead of focusing on income redistribution, we are committed to personally fostering the conditions necessary for economic growth and opportunity - without creating dependency.

we are also committed to the full participation of people from the developing world, our neighbors and local heroes - without their local knowledge, all of our talk would be irrelevant.  this is also a personal development opportunity to help each participant as we collectively reflect on questions of society, responsibility and prosperity.

you'll hear from a wide variety of fascinating people, including carlos augusto dammert from peru, carmen (nelly) del cid from honduras, kim wilson from tufts university, and phil smith, a kansas city ford dealer and part-time philanthropist.

we will consider questions such as:

who is my neighbor?

what is my responsibility to them?
what kind of "help" is actually helpful?

the program will start friday night, june 19th, with a networking dinner.  the general session will last all-day saturday, june 20th, with an optional dinner saturday night or time to travel home for fathers’ day on sunday.
